Are Gel Plates Legal?

Yes, our gel plates are 100% road-legal, provided they follow the DVLA’s guidelines. The latest UK number plate rules (2021) specify that:

• Plates must be reflective for road safety.
• The front plate must have black characters on a white background; the rear plate must have black characters on a yellow background.
• No background patterns that could distort readability.
• Plates must be marked with the supplier’s details and the British Standard number (BS AU 145e for plates made after 1 September 2021).
• Characters should not be removable or reflective, and they must be solid black if fitted after September 2021.
